I'm assuming the heat of the springs is what allows greenery to stay present all year long in this stream.

No you idiot. It is the hot-spring, one-legged jumping gnomes (aka /Flagelnornis fosdactylus/), that attend to the greenery all year long. However, they are unionized, so they only maintain the frondescence as far as one hop up each way. As you can see, they aren't the most thorough folk around, but what do you expect from unions?
